Portrait of Tom Webb

Pax Christi Northern California has established the “Tom Webb Memorial Peacemaker Award”, to annually recognize outstanding peace work in the area of anti-racism, integral disarmament, or the spirituality of nonviolence.

The Memorial Peacemaker Award commemorates Tom Webb (1955-2019), whose vocation of peace was manifested as a Catholic educator, lay pastoral associate, non-profit administrator, and writer. Tom was also a beloved colleague and friend to many in Pax Christi and the Catholic Worker Movement.

The recipient of the Tom Webb Memorial Peacemaker Award shall receive $500. The Memorial Award is endowed by money that Tom raised on behalf of Pax Christi Northern California and generous donations received from private benefactors.

Pax Christi Northern California will accept individual nominations for the Tom Webb Memorial Peacemaker Award by July 16. A special committee shall review all individual nominations and render a decision by August 1. The Memorial Peacemaker Award shall be presented in a public ceremony in the fall of 2021.

  • The peacemaker is based in Northern California
  • His or her peace work contributes to the advancement of peaceful solutions to conflicts, especially anti-racism, integral disarmament, or the spirituality of nonviolence
  • His or her peace work builds or inspires a culture of peace and nonviolence in the institutions of the Catholic Church

Please send the nomination form to [email protected] by July 20, 2022 to be considered for the 2022 award. The ceremony will be held in October.
